Briton Rupert Spiegelberg will put his 20 years of experience in fast-growing companies in the fintech and healthtech sectors to good use as the new CEO of Mechelen-based customs solutions provider Customs4trade. He commutes weekly between the UK and Belgium.
Rupert Spiegelberg is familiarising himself with the different types of acronyms and declaration forms specific to customs. The new CEO of Customs4trade is used to working in highly regulated sectors. For the past 20 years, he has led fast-growing software as a service (SaaS) companies in the United Kingdom (UK), Germany and the United States. "I bring the experience I gained in fintech and healthtech. Those sectors were at the beginning of their digital transformation 15 and 10 years ago, each time within a strong regulatory framework. I always worked in companies with international components. Customs is also a complex sector and international by nature."
For him, the fact that customs is at the beginning of full digitalisation is why he chose Customs4trade. "Customs is an interesting sector to improve processes and workflows and take a lot of costs out of the sector."
